@Inaugurated in 1991 to celebrate Kodo's 10th anniversary, Gathering is a 3-day concert concept first held in July at Orchard Hall, Shibuya, Tokyo, in which the group can showcase a different aspect of its activites. In 1991, the emphasis was on inviting back performers with whom Kodo had had particularly successful collaborations over the previous decade. In 1992,1993 and 1995, the spotlight was on individual members within the group, focussing on a number of individually written compositions. After a break in 1996, the 1997 Gathering program expanded to include Sado as well as Tokyo.
