Born in 1963 in Rio de Janeiro, Marcos started exploring Brazilian tambourine pandeiro when he was in teens. His studies of various drum and musical styles has led to the development of a unique pandeiro technique of his own. His work is a mix of traditional Brazilian and rock. As well as performing extensively with a wide variety of groups, he gives workshops in his pandeiro technique. His first solo album 'SAMBATOWN' was released in 1996.
