for a total of 400 people, young and old. You are welcome to watch.

- Donal Lunny (Ireland / Bouzouki)
Producer, composer, arranger and Bouzouki player Donal Lunny was one of the leaders of the Celtic music revival begun in the 60s. A pioneer in his field, he was the first to adopt the Greek Bouzouki to Irish music. 1996 marks the first Japanese tour for this highly regarded musician who has produced over 100 albums. In his concert on the 23rd he will appear with Maire Brennan, Liam O'Maonlai, Sharon Shannon, Nollaig Casey and Kodo's Motofumi Yamaguchi, Ryutaro Kaneko and Tetsuro Naito for An Evening of Irish Music.
- Dance Hall Night by "Ume-No-Ka Ongyoku dan / Haniwa version"
Made possible by a meeting between Kodo and traditional Kabuki percussionist Kiyohiko Senba, this special ensemble promises be one of the most celebrated features of Earth Celebration '96.
Combining traditional dance with Japanese folk music (Min-yo), Shamisen, various percussion and the great jazz sound of Kazutoki Umezu and Kazumi Watanabe, great things can be expected from "Dance Hall Night".
- Toshio Sato
Having taught at 3 Sado high schools, Mr. Sato currently works freelance as the Town of Aikawa's historian. This year Mr. Sato will conduct a talk in Hamochi at the workshop of a Tarai (bath tub) boat maker. These boats, which are still in use, form a vital part of Sado's history.
- Aja Addy (Ghana)
Born in 1958 in Ghana, Mr. Addy is famous for his "talking drum", his singing and African dance. He founded the African Music Research Centre in Ghana. Currently based in Germany, Mr. Addy performs extensively throughout the world. Also a participant of Earth Celebration in '91 and '92, this year, Aja Addy will lead an African dance workshop and appear in a "Dance Hall Night"(24th 19:00 -), special fringe event with Kodo members.(23rd 15:00 - )
- Kurokawa Sansa Dance
This is a folk dancein Iwate Pref. with roots stretching back 1,000 years. Originally a dance intended to rouse the fighting spirit of samurai, it is now performed to seek the favour of the gods in protecting homes and providing fertile crops. A workshop will be held to teach the dance and Kurokawa Sansa Odori will appear in a special fringe event. (24th, 25th 16:00`j
