Jin Nakamura氏を音楽プロデューサーに迎え、2008年11月26日シングル「foolish foolish」でデビュー。2010年6月2日に1stアルバム『I AM ME』をリリース。オリコンデイリーチャート初登場7位、オリコンウィークリーチャート15位を記録。2011年5月4日にリリースした8thシングル「Naturally」は、女性ファッション・ブランド『NATURAL BEAUTY BASIC』のCMソングとして話題となり、オリコンデイリーチャート初登場4位、ウィークリーチャート9位を記録。2011年8月24日に9thシングル「SUPER DRIVE」をリリース。2011年8月6日から全国8か所を廻る全国ツアー「松下優也Live Tour 2011〜SUPER DRIVE〜」を開催。2011年12月には東京国立代々木第一体育館で開催された『マイケル・ジャクソン トリビュート・ ライブ 』のソング・ステージにアーティストとして最年少出演し大きな注目を集める。 2012年1月25日にはニューシングル「キミへのラブソング〜10年先も〜」をリリースし、オリコンデイリーランキング初登場5位を記録。2月22日には待望の2ndアルバム『2U』をリリースし、3月から全22個所の大規模な全国ツアーを敢行する。 また、TBS・MBS系ドラマ「カルテット」では主演＆主題歌をつとめ、2011年7月スタートの東海テレビ・フジテレビ系昼ドラ「明日の光をつかめ2」に出演し大きな反響を得る等、俳優としても注目を集めている。

2005年大阪でのクラブイベントで15歳の松下優也を初めてみた。

その時のインパクトが彼と作品を作り続ける動機となっている。

彼の声は明るくも暗くもない。

ただ内面からあふれ出る「思い」に満ち溢れている。

悲しみも優しさも兼ね備えた彼の声がシーンに長く深く愛されることを僕は信じている。

First, please take a listen to his voice – It is pliable, not taking on any color, and every aspect opening to the future. It has class; it is subdued; it has atmosphere that makes you feel somehow inaccessible. It has vulnerability that does not belong to either children or adults. Is it just a coincidence that Yuya Matsushita, while gifted with such a strong weapon, is also endowed with incredibly good looks? Or is it destiny?

Just so that you know, he was not discovered by his good looks. Growing up enjoying American movies and music, he was suddenly seized by an impulse to sing when he was in the 6th grade, and chose a music school by himself to pursue the urge. The school was Caless Vocal & Dance School, a renowned performing arts school in Osaka that has turned out many artists such as Shota Shimizu. Yuya’s innate talent took little time before being brought to attention; the school quickly put together a special curriculum for him. With producer Jin Nakamura, a megahit maker who had worked with EXILE and CHEMISTRY to name a few, a big project to nurture Yuya Matsushita as an artist was launched.

Conflicts and struggles came and went during the five years since then. When Yuya was in the ninth grade, he clashed over his future plans with his mother, who had brought him up all by herself. It was around that time when he visited New York City, the city of his dreams, and realized anew the path he wished to pursue. As a result, he further refined his expressive power instead of going to high school – and finally seized the chance of debut. Maintaining the teamwork with Caless and Jin Nakamura, Yuya is currently in the studio with Nakamura recording his favorite, R&B/hip-hop based tracks. Debut single “foolish foolish” was the first track Nakamura presented to Yuya in New York City, the place he renewed his determination to pursue music.

And now, Yuya Matsushita is about to step onto center stage with such a memorable song. He has also set his goal as an artist. “I want to be something you have never seen before - definitely not an epigone of somebody. I can’t help being compared to someone else, but after all, I live and let live. I want to be said, ‘that’s very him.’”

(age 12) Suddenly decides to become a singer

Did his own researches at bookstores, and visited Caless Vocal & Dance School, the school he selected first. The school quickly discovered his talent and admitted him on scholarship. At school, his training mainly focused on gospel and Western music. Around the same time, he was also intrigued with street dance, and began spending much time practicing it.
2004   Formed dance/vocal group “SUGER” with Caless classmate Shota Shimizu and others.
2005  

Met producer Jin Nakamura.

Nakamura wrote “foolish foolish”, inspired by the first impression he had on Yuya.

Visited New York City, the city of his dreams, in October, when Yuya was in the 9th grade. This trip, which he made all by himself, became the turning point of his life; he made the decision of his life to pursue music instead of going to high school.
2006   Recorded “foolish foolish” under producer Nakamura.
2007   Quit SUGER due to decision to go solo. Continued working with Nakamura, aiming for major debut.
2008   Signed with Epic Records Japan and started full-scale preparation for major debut. Visited New York City once again, this time as ‘Yuya Matsushita the artist’. Video/photo shoot for debut single “foolish foolish” was done there. “foolish foolish” is set for release this coming winter.
